Christmas Letters Help Spread Holiday Cheer

Share: The Christmas season should be a time filled with those you love
. For some, the holiday has become commercialized with visions of Santa and his eight tiny reindeer bringing gifts to good boys and girls. While celebrating with presents is great, celebrating the true meaning of Christmas will make the season even more special. When Christmas was first celebrated, it was filled with special touches and personalized gifts and correspondence. Even though Christmas has become what it's become today, there's no reason we can't all appreciate the warm feelings we get from reaching out and touching others with personalized Christmas wishes. Before Christmas became the largest push for retailers in the world, it was all about the little things. Getting such rarities as nuts and oranges and even bacon as gifts would mean almost as much as a bolt of silk cloth or that BB gun that Junior had been mooning over in the Sears' catalog for three years. Letters received on paper adorned with Christmas wreaths and beautifully decorated trees were incredibly special as it often was the only time of the year you would hear from family living far away.Today's technological advances of cell phones, email, texting and tweeting is doing a disservice as writing letters is becoming a lost art. So few people are writing letters these days that it is actually affecting the US Postal Service. That's another reason why letter writing over the Christmas season is so special. Personalize the letter by selecting a Christmas stationery that tells a story. There is usually a wide variety of themes to choose from and the recipient will know you thought about them personally. When the only way to communicate was via letter, or telegraph, the type of paper used was important. Some people had very little paper to write on, so having a letter written on special Christmas stationary was very important because it was a huge expense to have special paper just to write letters on. Today, using Christmas stationary is still a special touch because it is still an out of the way expense. Not as impactful as it was in the 1800's, but still an expense. Taking the time out of your busy day is a perfect way to let the person know you care.Send a personal Christmas letter to your family and friends, it might just surprise them. You'll be appreciated for the gesture, and you'll be surprised yourself with the warm feelings you'll have as you write them. Enjoy the holiday season and write some great letters.
