Choosing The Perfect Toy' this Christmas

As we head into November, mums and dads across the country are starting to think about Christmas and what might make the perfect present for their little girl or boy this year. The time is now upon all parents, brothers and sisters to choose the perfect toy for their loved one, so we take a look at how to choose the perfect toy as a Christmas present this year.

For those of us who love shopping, it's a nice task to have. But with financial pressures being as they are today, and the likelihood of an essay-length wish-list from your little one, it's not always easy to know where to start or even where to stop - when it comes to children's Christmas gifts.

Here are a few ideas that might help with Christmas shopping for children:Choosing ‘The Perfect Toy' this Christmas

Hit the high street early don't wait until a Saturday afternoon in December when it's sure to be a stressful affair, but if you can take a mid-week afternoon off and maybe arrange to meet a couple of friends. You can wander around together getting ideas, picking up catalogues and swapping thoughts and ideas over coffees and cake. You could even set up a festive baby sitting circle so you can help each other out with the shopping-with-little-ones-in-toe dilemma.

Craft Fairs if you want something really different consider visiting a local craft fair there are lots on all over the country over the next month check out your local papers. Some are bigger than others. Or take a look at a website like Not on the High Street a market place for independent retailers with a huge children's department and a great place to look for personalised items

Online shopping and not just a quick browse over lunch but why not set aside one afternoon or evening to shop online as you might do for high street shopping. Start with Google, bookmark favourite sites and ideas, as you can also bookmark ideas and then check back in a few days to see if you can get them cheaper or try to get a better package.

Use social media lots of online toy shops have Facebook and Twitter accounts so you can pick up on what is popular and the items around which there is a bit of a buzz. Youtube is great for seeing toys in action almost as good as seeing them for real (but without the crowds!)

Ask friends it sounds obvious but always try to consider what your friends are getting for their children. Have they stumbled upon a special online toy shop or neat idea? Have they been to a big City and seen what is coming into the high street shops near you? You can use social media to really find out what is hitting the shops in time for you to make the purchase.

Encourage Father Christmas letters although there probably won't be much encouragement needed. This can be a great way to make the imagination run wild and also allow your child to develop writing and reading skills, always a great way of learning!

Be sneaky! There is a certain innocence to children which means it is possible to pry for information and test out ideas without them catching on to what you are up to. Even just watching a bit of TV with them and asking the odd question can unearth some ideas.
