For the winter season, there are seemingly an endless amount of hours that parents need to fill with fun activities for children
. As the days get shorter on daylight and even colder still, it's important to keep kids active, engaged and happy and that involves quite a bit of creativity at times.From sledding to arts and crafts, board games to building snow forts, there are plenty of wintertime activities for children (and for adults) and plenty of memories to be made in the process.Below are a few ideas you might want to try.Make a snowman as a family. Scavenge around the house for old hats, a carrot for his nose, buttons for his eyes, a scarf and whatever else they can come up with to being their creation to life. If you have more than one child, have them make mini snowboys and girls to represent themselves in your yard. And, for kids with a tinge of sibling rivalry, you might want to consider having each make their own snowperson.
Visit the local ice skating rink or pond and make an afternoon out of it, full with hot chocolate afterward. Going Out Sledding is perhaps the most popular wintertime activities for children. So find a big hill and have a family race to the bottom.And, if you want your kids to be worn out for the rest of the day, this is definitely a great way to go!Make sure to bring a still or video camera along to record wipeouts! Putting the kids in charge of taking photos and video is another way to keep everyone engaged and from getting bored. who love to learn about and explore nature might love a nature hike in the woods where you try to identify animal tracks in the snow. For kids that love arts and crafts, collecting pine cones and leaves from outside and turning them into wreaths and other holiday dcor is a great activity.Making holiday cards is another great crafting activity.From construction paper, markers and glitter to digital photo projects, depending on the age and aptitude of the child, the options are limitless.
Cooking together as a family is one of the best winter activities for children.It's one of the best wintertime activities for children. On a side note: if you struggle to get kids to eat their veggies, have them cook a meal with veggies in it.They're much more likely to eat a meal that they helped to prepare.Of course, baking cookies and frosting cakes is a lot of fun for kids too.Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles might also appreciate these as gifts.
