Child Booster Seats

Child Booster Seats

Child booster seats are the last type of child restraint that your child will use

. These types of car seats are for children who weigh between 15 and 36kg, which is approximately between 3 and 12 years old. A child no longer needs to use a child car seat once they turn 12 years old unless they are over 135cm tall meaning they no longer need to use a child car seat.

What Child Booster Seats Are Made For

Child booster seats are used for keeping your child safe and comfortable whilst travelling in your car. They boost the child up to the right height so that they can use the vehicle seat belt comfortably and safely. The seat belt should sit over the child's shoulder (not the neck) and across the child's lap/pelvis area (not the stomach).

Some child booster seats come with a back and head rest and some come without. In the event of an accident your child would be better protected by a booster seat with a back and head rest, which is why we recommend that this is the type you purchase for your little one.

Are Child Booster Seats a Legal Requirement?

Your children must use child car seats by law. The reason child car seats must be used is to ensure your child has a comfortable journey, and more importantly a safe journey. Whether you and your child are going for a long drive or a short drive, your child MUST be securely fastened in their child booster seat. If you find that your child has a tantrum when you fasten them in their child seat, stay calm and remind yourself why you are having to force them into the seat. When fastening them in tell them mummy and daddy wants them to be safe, and tell them how much you care about them. This may make it easier.
