Caversham Wildlife Park, A Treasure Trove Of Australian Wildlife

Caversham Wildlife Park in Perth takes pride in raising a variety of animals native to Australia

, including koalas, kangaroos, wombats, kookaburras and Tasmanian devils amongst others. All of these creatures are appealing and lovable, and children especially are enthralled by the opportunity to pet and feed them.

Presently located within the expansive Whiteman Park, the Caversham Wildlife Park extends over a wide area, with a range of enclosures housing the various animals found in Australia. Perhaps the most popular animals are the koalas and kangaroos, with many of the specimens completely tame and friendly.

The koala enclosure has indefinite opening times, and visitors should ascertain these before visiting this site. Since koalas must sleep 20 hours each day, contact is rotated among them so as to ensure that their mode of life is not disturbed. Guests are taught to rub their backs softly with the back of the hand, and will discover that the lovable creatures are just as invitingly soft as they appear.

If kangaroos are your favourite Australian denizen the kangaroo pen will be a delight. Often seen basking in the sunshine, the kangaroos, most of them utterly tame, will eat food pellets from the visitors hand. The kangaroos may be stroked and petted and will even pose for photographs.

Other memorable moments will include experiencing the laugh of a kookaburra, observing Tasmanian devils feed and cuddling a wombat, all of which will enthrall the visitor. Guests may even take rides on camels and children will enjoy the farmyard animal exhibit featuring rabbits, sheep, pigs and ducks.

The park now boasts 2,000 animals representing approximately 200 species and all the birds, mammals and reptiles are featured in walk-in or walk-through environments. The park conducts its own breeding programmes, exchanging various animals for breeding and to expand the resident population.

The city of Perth offers many attractions for the visitor, and an ideal accommodation for the traveller would be the Somerset Serviced Residence St Georges Terrace. These well-appointed Perth serviced apartments provide excellent facilities and services making for a pleasurable stay.
