Wedding dress care prior the wedding
As wedding dress is purchased hang it on a hanger in order to avoid creasing. Always use-padded hangers not wire one, as its very good for retaining shape of the dress.
Cover it with some fabric for retaining its shape as well to preserve from dust.
Check its each and every detailing to look for loophole, if any. Also assure there are no loose beads or threads etc that can unravel.
Hold it carefully to avoid pulling of the trim.
Keep all pins or accessories away from your wedding dress so that fabric of your dress should not get tear.
Wedding dress care during the wedding
Wedding dress whether it is saree or lehnga is usually heavy and can cause problem in sitting or getting up. Thus have your friend or family member to help you in adjusting your dress.
Take great care while eating or drinking or from the one doing so near you to uphold your wedding dress from getting stained. Knowledge of fabric of the dress is also of great help in case of spill.
Wedding dress care after the wedding
As soon as wedding is over give your wedding dress to professional dry cleaner for cleaning. It is must for proper care of the dress.
Embroidery, sequins, beads etc are very fragile. Hence alert dry cleaner about all these and get assurance of no damage. Also tell no stain should be left on it.
Keep your wedding dress in a room temperature where temperature does not go to extremes. It should not be too cold or too hot or too dry or too humid but normal.
Plastic is a great enemy of fabric as it prevents dress fabric from breathing. Therefore never pack wedding dress in plastic cover.
It is best to wrap it with clean white color cotton sheets and place in a wooden large box seamed with acid-free paper. Wrapping is better than hanging as in hanging there is a risk of loosening of fabric.
Put some lavender sachets or dried neem leaves in the box keeping wedding dress to keep moths away and then seal the box.
Once in a year take out the dress in dry weather only and hang it out in the sun for few hours. Also check if any marks or any other kind of damage has occurred. Before putting back in the box wash the fabric covers with which it is covered.
