Buying Memory Foam Mattresses Online

Buying Memory Foam Mattresses Online

Buying a memory foam mattress online has its advantages and disadvantages

. When doing a price comparison, you will find that mattresses are typically cheaper online. You can get some excellent deals from stores like Amazon.com, who also offers free shipping on all orders over $25. Another benefit to buying online is that the mattress gets shipped directly to your front door. You can place an order from the comfort of your own home, and you don't have to deal with any salesmen.

The downside of course is that you may not get a chance to try it out first before buying. However, you could check to see if the mattress you want is at a store in your area. If so, you could try it out and then buy it online if indeed the price is cheaper.

The one caveat is that lying down on a mattress for a few minutes won't tell the whole story. It may feel extremely comfortable initially, but what will it feel like a month from now? So no matter where you buy a mattress, there will always be the element of the unknown. Only time will ultimately tell whether or not the mattress you buy is the right one.

The best approach is to do as much research as possible about a mattress before buying. Customer reviews can be helpful, but they should be taken with a little grain of salt also. Everyone responds differently to a memory foam mattress. Some customers will say that a particular mattress is too firm, some will say that it's too soft, and others claim it's just right. It's best to simply take the consensus opinion among customers when evaluating a mattress.

Look at other factors as well such as brand, density, thickness, and warranty. What reputation does the brand have? Are there complaints about customer support? Do they offer a long-term warranty?

Density is important because it tends to correlate with support and overall quality. Anything less than 3 pounds should not even be considered. Ideally, you at least want 4 pounds, though 5 is typically better. It depends somewhat on your body type. Longer, leaner individuals don't require a highly dense mattress, and therefore might be better off with 4 instead of 5 pounds.

Check to see where the mattress is manufactured. Stay away from ones that are produced outside of the U.S. Foreign countries have few regulations in regards to chemicals that can be placed into products. It's been said that some manufacturers overseas don't even know what they put into their mattresses.
