Buenos Aires - The Paris of South America

There are some similarities between Buenos Aires, Argentina and Paris, the City of Lights. Some of the similiarites between the two cities are the open public squares, the strolling about the city and the fountains. Buenos Aires is a lovely city which has a number of European influences. It was settled largely by European immigrants, so there is a great deal of culture which is similar to what an individual would find in Europe.

The city has some wonderful things about it, and is the birthplace of the Tango. It is a dance that is extremely popular, and was made famous in the movie Scent of a Woman, which starred Al Pacino and Chris O'donnell. A trip to Argentina, would not be complete without seeing a Tango show. One may also visit the grave of Eva Peron made famous by the Broadway play and movie in her honor.

Another thing that Buenos Aires has in common with Paris is the fact that there are many open air cafes, similar to the famed European city. There are also open air markets throughout the city. It's climate is also similar to that of some southern European cities.. There are also numerous parks and gardens throughout the city. One important component to your trip to the city is the stop at a tango show. This is something that is as much a part of the city, as Gauchos are to the country.

Gauchos to those who are not familiar with this term, as Argentinian cowboys. They are located on the Argentine Pampas. The pampas are an area in the country which consists of low fertile grassland. It is an area that can be cultivated and is part of a large area of grassland that extends into a few other countries, one being Uruguay.

The Argentine Pampas can be an area to explore while you are on your trip to Argentina. There are also nearby attractions such as Iguassu falls. You might be lucky enough to see a gaucho on your trip. A trip to Argentina is one that you will remember for a lifetime, and truly is the stuff that memories are made of.
