Shortly after Christmas, the British ushered in a number of Chinese tourists. They are big spenders, in favor of luxury goods, set off the British luxury goods market and consumption binge. So far as Dec. 27, they have spent about 1 billion pounds. This phenomenon has aroused the concern of the British media; they call these Chinese tourists as the "Beijing blockbuster" or "Gucci crazy fans."

It is reported that, these "Gucci crazy fans" are keen on the luxury brands like Gucci Bags, Burberry, Mulberry, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

In line with this shopping boom, many shops in Western London own Mandarin-speaking sales assistant to help explain and checkout. The Selfridge Shopping Mall has been set up in the store the CUP cards ATM for the Chinese tourists. According to the statistics, the company had an average of 10,000 pieces of orders per hour, an increase of more than 40% over the same period last year. A crowd of people jokingly said that, it was just like the endless Great Wall of the long lines waiting for checkout.

The retail analyst Mello Jonathan said that, in UK the Chinese customers have become the biggest buyers in the luxury products consuming, making up 1/3; followed by Russian, Arabic and Japanese. The local British only take 15% in this market.

Jonathan continued, "China's rapid economic growth gave birth to the luxury consumer market. But high tariffs make the price of these luxury goods in the UK 20% cheaper than in China to 30%. What's more, the Chinese tourists like much the seal affixed to the products from the original countries."

Another reason for the rising of the trading volume after Christmas is that most of Chinese are not familiar with the cultural values of Christmas, so that they could be leaving the countries, and shopping overseas.
