Being Prepared While Loving Your African Safari Holidays

African safari holidays are an absolute blast

, no doubt. For anyone who has ever wanted to get up close and personal with some of nature's most incredible animals, African safari holidays are definitely the way to go. With some of the most stunning landscape you'll ever see, the most magnificent wildlife, and good natured lovely people of the land, you will find no other trip quite like this adventure.

Of course, few of us get to go more than once, so if this is your first trip, you might not be exactly sure about what to expect. That's normal. You probably received some sort of literature, either via mail or online, through the booking agency you went through. Yet, you still might feel as though the literature was selling you on the idea more than preparing you. Have no fear, as there are some very basic ideas that will help you be completely prepared for African safari holidays.

Remember that the African sun can be brutal to fair skin. Of course, it's easy to check the weather conditions before you leave for your adventure. Sunshine makes for a wonderful safari but can be hazardous to your health. Make sure that you have ample protection, including a large, wide brimmed hat that protects the back of your neck as well as your head from the powerful African sun. The same can be said for the need for protective eyewear.

Despite the fantastic heat of the day, nighttime temperatures can end up being rather chilly. During the evening hours you will want what most of us consider clothing appropriate for the autumn chill. During the day, you will want lightweight clothing that is made from a natural fiber such as cotton or linen. Being Prepared While Loving Your African Safari Holidays

Keep your colors neutral for the safari. Bright colors will make you stand out while you're trying to blend in. Dark colors will absorb more heat and create problems keeping cool.

While you might be tempted to go with a sandal for the heat of the day, remember that you will have to do a great deal of walking, sometimes on difficult terrain. You might want to only consider sport sandals and have hiking boots on hand for times when sandals are just not appropriate.

Keep the bugs off you during your African safari holiday. The spread of malaria and other mosquito borne illnesses is still strong enough that you will need to remember to bring protection. Bug spray is often sufficient for your daily activities outside. Just remember to take it with you on safari. Reapply the spray often, especially if you have been sweating quite a bit.

Most of your lodging facilities will have amenities to make your stay more comfortable. You can usually do laundry, grab some additional supplies if you are running low, and rely on the local advice. Taking an African safari holiday is one of the best ways to see part of the world. If you can, remember to document it as well as possible. With a little preparation and some common sense you will have the time of your life.
