Being Poor Does Not Guarantee You Health Insurance Benefits

Being Poor Does Not Guarantee You Health Insurance Benefits

There is an overwhelming thought process in the United States by which those who

have a good deal of money feel slighted by the government who are seemingly only willing to help those American's who can and will not support themselves. And while to an extent this may be true, there are a great deal of Americans who fall through the cracks in this system everyday and find themselves without any sort of help or support even while they are struggling to make ends meet.

It is important to realize that while there are health insurance plans instituted through the channels of our government that over all these insurance plans do not help many of those who are in need of assistance. Plans like Medicare only cover those who are disabled and handicapped and the elderly and even the elderly now have to pay part of their health insurance costs.

Medicaid is the government run health insurance plan that is supposed to be designed to help those who can not afford health insurance coverage however, it falls short in many areas. For the most part Medicare is designed to help pregnant women and children. After these women have the children their Medicaid only extends out for a few months and then is taken away from them.

The new proposals being instituted in Congress are aimed specifically at children as well. Although nobody will ever oppose children being covered by health insurance it begs the question "If they can institute new programs that can protect children, why can they not institute policies that protect the parents of these children?" Not doing so is logic in reverse.

If you are an adult who is not making enough to pay for health insurance benefits and aren't offered these benefits as a result of employment then you must live without health insurance, there is no coverage allotment for these people under the current government plans. This is also true of college age students who are struggling to get through school and are no longer allowed to be covered by their parent's insurance policy. It is important to understand that while there are several government insurance plans in place that they do not cover all Americans, only a select group of them. The rest must live without insurance until they can afford it.
