Become A Ghostwriter...top Tips For Success

It would be impossible to list all the different ways there are of making money online

but one avenue that is familiar to anyone with a long standing website or blog is ghostwriting.

If you enjoy writing, there are several great benefits to starting your own ghostwriting business online, but the number one reason has to be the benefit of becoming your own boss and not having to answer to anyone else. You can set your own schedule and won't have to worry about a daily commute in traffic.

Additionally, as a ghostwriter, you could set yourself up writing for successful Internet marketers...making some fabulous contacts and learning the material as you research your projects.

As a ghostwriter for others, your clients will expect perfect grammar and spelling. It matters not that your clients can't spell or use proper punctuation themselves (in fact, that might be why they hired you) you are being paid by them to provide a quality product that is ready to be published.

Check your copies thoroughly and completely and in some cases it is smart to use a proofreader before submitting them to your customer. Your own style of writing will develop as you fine tune your skills.

Since most clients can be vague about what they want, there are certain steps you must take before tackling a project to assure that all the details have been worked out ahead of time...the last thing you want is to be surprised with extra work you hadn't planned on.

1) define exactly what it is you are writing...an article, an ebook, a short report or ecourse etc.

2) how many pages or words have you agreed upon for the set price?

3) who is responsible for all the research?

4) is it an original product or a PLR rewrite?

5) what manner or tone would they like the piece written in...technical or friendly?

6) be prepared to ask any questions that come to mind. Do not give a quote until you have worked out all the details.

7) be sure that both sides understand the time frame that has been decided upon.

As with any new endeavor, finding clients for your new found ghostwriting service can be your hardest task.

Join forums covering popular topics or forums based on topics you are interested in. Create a signature that includes a contact link and that advertises your services. If you are unsure about how to set up your signature, check out other forum signatures and learn from them.

Don't just sign up for a forum and leave your signature. Make your presence known by answering questions and providing valuable links and resources.

It is equally important to include a similar signature in every email you send out...even those to family members. When people get curious and ask about your service, be honest and polite and answer directly. You just never know where your next prospect will come from.

There are established bidding sites that people use to find ghostwriters for their project. Customers will submit their project and place it up for bidding, choosing their writer based on reputation, work experience and their competitive bid.

Your customer, on the other hand, will most likely come from those who do not like bidding sites and prefer to hire a personal service...like the one you are offering. Additionally, your client will be one who prefers working with one ghostwriter, establishing a long term relationship.

What ever your customers project/needs are, providing excellent customer service with professionally written, error free content is the key to retaining your existing clients long into the future and consistently adding to your client base.

Should the job turn out to be more than you expected, chalk it up to experience, complete the project, learn from it and ask more detailed questions the next time.
