I know you can barely wait; this is gonna be your first Christmas time together with your newborn. You must be really anxious to go out and get lots of baby gifts. That first Holiday with your new baby is a special and memorable time. You'll also start creating traditions for your household which will last for years to come. Those traditions are what your child will keep in mind most in the many years to come, not the presents. Here are just a couple of of my thoughts on Christmas traditions.
Christmas was a special time of year within our home. The home all the way through was decorated for the holiday season. We always received plenty of company at our house during the holiday season and that i am sure that has something to do with the fact that my mother was an excellent baker and the kitchen always had something yummy baking in the oven. And we cannot forget about the gift buying, the hours of store shopping that resulted in many time of wrapping. Indeed Xmas was really a fantastic time in our home and that may have just had to do with the basic fact that my mom came to be in December and her moniker was Carol. Not till when i was older and left home did I understand what was most special about oue Christmases had been the traditions, and that i am grateful that my mother took so very much time and care to produce all those holiday seasons filled with memories.
An important feature about traditions is that they don't need to become expensive or elaborate. For instance 1 of my favorite things we did every Christmas Eve would be to swap gifts with my brother and sister. All of us took fantastic energy in trying to discover presents which our siblings would really like and want. We would tease each other for weeks as to what was within the gifts. When Christmas Eve arrived I think we were more excited about seeing the other people open their presents then receiving presents ourselves. We have been scattered over america, and each Xmas Eve I wish I was with them giving them their presents.
Obviously things change. We all grow older, people move away as well as some pass on. Traditions alter, some fade away and new ones take their place. As I got older a custom my father and that i started was going to midnight service on Xmas Eve. Due to the fact our church didn't have 1 we had fun trying various churches each Christmas. Even though we did that for just a couple of years, I will always remember it fondly, and once again I wish each yr at midnight that my Dad and I were relaxing in church.
As an grownup I am thankful for the traditions of the past. I cannot help but smile whenever i really think of them. I also have made them a central part of Xmas now. For example my husband and i have ham each Christmas Eve, and the meal isn'tcomplete with out the breaded cauliflower and sausage stuffing. We also fill stockings for each other, another thing from my Christmases of the past. homes of our own. Even now when I think of Christmas, it is not the gifts I gained, however the fun the loved ones experienced that makes me smile.
The christmas season can be so busy and chaotic. It seems that we don't have time to appreciate our relatives and friends. So I strongly encourage you to simply take the time to have fun with yourselves. Delight in some traditions with individuals who are dear to you. Merry Xmas.
