Avatar Kids Costumes Can Be Fun

Avatar is an action packed movie with incredible cinematography and fun characters

. No wonder children and adults alike are fascinated with the story, and the characters of this mythical planet of Pandora. Now you can make avatar costumes for kids that could win awards.

Children like to emulate characters on the big screen. They like the security of being someone that they have a relationship with. Whether your child wants to be Neytiri or Jake Sully, you can be sure to find an easy way to make their character come to life.

A Neytiri costume includes a jumpsuit with a tail, an apron (which covers the crotch), a gauntlet, and beads. The jumpsuit, which has a full back zip closure makes it easy to get in and out of in case of sudden pit stops. Your child will still need a wig, or to braid their hair to create the traditional Na'vi hair style.

Jake Sully's costume can be purchased as well. Most prepared costumes include a pair of pants, a jacket and a mask. They do not include the blue undershirt, make up or dark shoes to complete the effect.

For Dr. Grace you will need most of the Neytiri costume, however, remember that she is still quite human and is not comfortable with running around essentially naked like the Na'vi. She wears a tank top and jeans, and has one necklace with a large pendant.

While masks are available for both Jake and Neytiri, the real beauty of this costume can be in how you interpret your child's personality and make it shine in their make up. Use a blue body paint as a base coat and apply it to your child's neck, face, lips and ears. Now make dark stripes that look like a zebra or a cat on their face, then add light colored dots in between the stripes. You can add prosthetic ears or simply make them out of paper and attach them with bobby pins.

Whatever role your child wants to play in their Avatar costumes for kids, Jake or Neytiri or any of the other Avatars or Na'vi, you can make their Halloween a safe and happy one. Make sure that they are dressed comfortably for the elements. Make sure that they can see effectively and be seen. Have them wear something that has reflective tape. Travel with them if you can, or make sure that your child goes with friends. Visit only houses where you know the families. And you and your child will have a happy and safe Halloween.
