The festive season has always been an important occasion for the automobile industry where a constantly rising demand for various products can be observed. SIAM has provided the important figures for the duration of April-October 2010. During this period of April-October 2010, the cumulative production data shows production growth of 33.07 percent over the corresponding period in previous year. During the period of October 2010, the production grew at 44.80 percent over the time of October 2009. Also, a growth of 45.93 percent was recorded in the segment of domestic sales during October 2010 in comparison of the 21.63 percent growth during the month of September 2010. Currently, the automobile industry is facing certain issues. One such issue faced by the auto industry is in context with the raw materials. There has been a constant rise in the price of raw materials for automobiles. This price rise in raw materials is an important issue which is a point of concern for every auto major. As far as the domestic sales are concerned, the segment of passenger vehicles during the period of April-October 2010 grew at 33.72 percent over the corresponding period during the previous year. The segment of passenger Cars grew by 34.29 percent. On the other side, the segment of utility vehicles grew by 21.85 percent while the segment of multi purpose vehicles grew by 50.45 percent during this period of April- October 2010. The overall segment of commercial vehicles recorded a growth of 37.77 percent during the period of April-October 2010 in comparison of the similar period during the previous year. The segment of medium and heavy commercial vehicles recorded a growth of 53.19 percent while the light commercial vehicles' segment grew at 26.25 percent. In the three wheelers sales, a growth rate of 20.74 percent was registered in the period of April-October 2010. On the other side, the passenger carriers grew by 23.75 percent during the period of April-October 2010. The segment of goods carriers recorded a growth of 8.52 percent. The two wheelers recorded a growth of 29.38 percent in the time period of April-October 2010. Mopeds grew by 25.00 percent, the scooters grew by 52.11 percent and the motorcycles grew by 25.60 percent. During the period of April-October 2010, the overall exports sector of automobiles recorded a growth rate of 41.44 percent.
