Golfing holidays are popular among Britons and they can be the ideal way to relax after a busy time at work or with the family.
And by jetting off to warmer climates, consumers can hope for better weather than they would get while playing the sport on home shores.
However, new research has suggested that those booking golf holidays and other types of vacation may be leaving their arrangements until the last minute.
Conducted by Sainsbury's Finance, the study revealed that 1.28 million people leave booking their summer breaks until the last minute.
Meanwhile, the firm also found that 818,000 delay it until a week or less before they intend to head off before making the final arrangements.
This may be in the hope that they can pick up bargain golfing holidays or other types of breaks. On the other hand, some individuals may do this because they cannot afford to shell out for the costs in advance.
Indeed, it was found that many people are looking to spread the cost of their golf holidays and other vacations. According to the organisation, only 58 per cent of those who put some of their holiday expenditure on their credit cards will pay this off in one month.
The average length of time it takes to clear summer break credit was said to be two-and-a-half months.
Responding to the findings, head of Sainsbury's Credit Cards Stuart McKeggie remarked: "Credit cards can be a great way of spreading the cost of your holiday, or for any other large purchase.
"However, if you don't think you will be able to clear this within a month, you should consider taking out a new credit card that offers an attractive interest-free period on purchases."
