Every child has their cranky time and its all part of their learning and experiencing their emotions, but when parents have to deal with angry children on a frequent basis its causes a great deal of concern.
It seems that more parents are being faced with this problem now, then what was evident in recent years. Children with temper flare ups are a common practice that is witnessed in many public settings. Much to the dismay and embarrassment of the parents it creates awkward outings, and some parents dread the thought of taking their angry kids into a public atmosphere for fear of having to deal with a temper tantrum.
Most often what happens is the angry child outburst causes anger in the parent or adult in charge, and what transpires is a war between two angry individuals. Not all that much different than an adult who has a anger management problem and their victims. Only in this case the angered youngster will often display their rage through tears and screaming. They don't have the vocabulary to be able to vocalize their anger and frustration.
The first thing any adult care giver can do is to keep their cool. By losing your composure you are not indicating to the child that you are in control. The child needs the security of knowing that someone is in control and that's your job as the adult.

You then need to determine what created the flare up. Perhaps the child became angry because you would not purchase an item they wanted. If this is the case then this is something you need to work on at home, and may have to keep working on this problem several times.
The one thing you must make clear is that this type of behavior in angry children is not acceptable. You also have to make it clear that you understand that they are angry and frustrated, but there are other ways for them to express their feelings without screaming and crying.
