Where to go on an African Safari?

There are many different countries in Africa that can offer you safari holidays. You may choose to visit Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe or Tanzania, all of which can offer you a unique experience.

When to visit

Where and when you wish to visit will mainly be dependent on which animals you want to see and how you want to stay during your safari. An Introduction To African Safari Holidays

In Kenya, you can see gnu's, zebra and wildebeest and the best time to see them is between the months of July and October.

The best time to visit Tanzania would be during the migration months of February to March. During this period you can see zebra and wildebeest with their young travelling through the country.

Uganda is the best place to visit for seeing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The best time to visit Uganda to see the gorillas is outside of the rainy seasons of October to November and March to April. The rest of the year, the gorillas can be found easily by the local guides.

In Zambia, you can see zebra, buffalo and elephants, especially during the months of mid September to mid November, when the animals travel through the Lower Zambezi Valley.

Zimbabwe is a great place to visit during the months of July to October, when the wildlife parks are full of animals. The largest park is Hwange and is home to many different animals.

South Africa is best visited during the cooler months of June to September, when the animals are enjoying the cool, dry weather. In south Africa you can see buffalo, leopards, lions, elephants, black backed jackals, cheetah and many other diverse species of animal and birds.

What type of Safari should you go on?

There are several different types of safari available, these range from luxurious to budget. For those who have a large budget then visit one of the many luxurious safari lodges and staying in your own private suite, with Jacuzzi and room service may appeal.

For those who do not have such a large budget then there are many cheaper budget lodges that offer simple rooms, with the ability to then travel by 4X4 vehicle into the safari park to see the animals.

If you are slightly more adventurous, then staying in a tent may appeal to you. In many locations you can travel through the safari park and stay in permanently erected tents overnight, before travelling on through the park to the next location. For those on solo holidays, this experience may give you the chance to share your safari experience with other members travelling with you.

The type of accommodation you choose may depend on whether you are travelling as a family or are on solo holidays.

In conclusion, there are many different safari holiday experiences that you can go on. Whether you are travelling as a couple, on your own or with your family, there are safari experiences tailor made for all.
