Alopecia Areata Treatment - Part 3

Alopecia Areata Treatment - Part 3

Some people may be sensitive to one or another of these essential oils and experience a rash or dermatitis.

Although this study focused primarily on alopecia areata, one of the individuals in the study also had male pattern baldness, known medically as androgenic alopecia. This is the most common form of hair loss. The researchers noted "some moderate regrowth of hair loss." Whether other men with this problem would benefit remains to be determined.

Up to 2% of the population will experience a type of hair loss called alopecia areata at some point in their lives. Two forms of this type of hair loss exist that effect less than 50% of the scalp for some and more than 50% on others. Alopecia areata is generally known as an autoimmune disease in which the body treats hair follicles as foreign tissue and therefore stops the growth of hair. The condition is revealed by patches of bald spots where hair existed before.

People who develop this type of baldness are generally known to be in good health. Some scientists believe that those effected are predisposed genetically to develop it and that a virus or something of the like sets off the condition to become active where it may have been dormant. With alopecia areata, hair generally grows back, but hair loss and regrowth may happen a few times. Roughly 50% to 80% of those with the condition regrow hair within one year with no treatment - usually when the body is working toward stopping some other condition.

Given the cause of the disease is generally unknown there have been several studies on the cause and treatment of the condition conducted such as one by and between NAAF and Dr. Lloyd E. King of Vanderbilt University. Their efforts are to learn about the casual genes involved that might possibly explain the cause of the disease.

At present, there is no absolute cure for the disease. There are treatments that have provided mild results for many by stimulating hair follicles and results are better for cases that are not severe.

Common treatments for the condition include once per month cortisone injections, topical minoxidil, Anthralin cream, known for treatment of psoriases, cortisone pills, but there are health risks with long-term use, topical immunotherapy will produce an itchy rash and a wig at most any stage can be a viable option for many.

Another valuable option is a tested and scientifically proven topical treatment that includes a bio-cleansing shampoo and a thickening conditioner. Revivogen is a natural hair loss solution with an 88% success rate. It can be used in conjunction with other treatments but is preferred because there are no known side effects.

Alopecia areata may yet be curable but there are options for treatment, including the non-invasive topical product, Revivogen, that aids in most every type of hair loss condition.

Unlike ordinary patterns of balding, Alopecia areata doesn't have a visible pre-determined set of patterns. All cases of AA seem to happen at random, bounded only by the age group of 15-30. The severity of this form of alopecia also varies from one person to another.

Some individuals may have three or four different bald spots at any one time, while others only have mildly thinning spots that are hardly detectable under normal lighting conditions.

Detection

What differentiates AA from all the other forms of balding is its severity when it finally strikes. Instead of feeling some form of goose pimple on the scalp, you'll find completely smooth skin.
