You will not know that the mind is doing this because it is totally "subconscious" Once the danger has been known, the mind then makes the decision whether to fight or flee from the threat. Of course, you cannot flee from your symptoms, so instead, you go into "safety seeking mode".

This IS what causes agoraphobia. As we then go from place to place, your anxious mind constantly produces these risk analysis based on your CURRENT location. It always finds that your symptoms to be the danger in that new environment and then it says, "when I am here, I am threatened- so RETREAT" The next time you intend to go to that place, the mind has already formed an "anchor" between it and danger. So even before you reach there, you feel anxious! This builds the agoraphobic reaction and behaviors.

But does an agoraphobia treatment exist that reverses this?
