Keyword research is the process of determining what keywords are used in search engines by potential customers.

The question is, How keyword research is done?

There are many tools for keyword research, but today we will use Google keyword research tool.

This tool is originally designed for Adwords, but it can come in handy when doing SEO keyword research. Once you go to the tool's page you will find a box to enter your keyword in it.

Enter the relatively broad keywords and key phrases to your topic, before you do that set the language to you are going to write your article with and set the location where your target audience reside or set it to all countries and territories if your audience is of a global nature. And Of course make sure you choose synonymous.

After checking all the above settings, make sure you choose exact matching to display accurate search volume.

To select a unified and strong theme keywords or phrases for your article or topic, choose the most related and relevant keywords to your topic.

After eliminating all non relative keywords, and selecting the most relevant ones. Most probably you will end with 10 to 15 key phrases. Start by eliminating the least relevant ones till you reach 3 to 4 tight, strongly related key phrases.

Then repeat the whole process again with your selected phrases, rinse and repeat till you choose 2 or 3 themed keywords and start writing your article about them.

Local or global traffic volume can attract some people to choose certain keywords, others choose keyword which enjoys a higher advertiser's competition in order to get the highest revenue for clicks on their Adense ads.

I think the best way is to choose the most relevant long tail (medium to high length) key phrases to your topic who at the same time enjoys a decent traffic volume especially if your website is still new. Then write well structured content and build links to your content.
