Advertisements are all around us. Wherever you look you can see ads. TV commercials, Radio commercials, Internet ads, Billboards and even on balconies. And all of them have one task to sell or popularize goods.
Maybe commercials on the TV are the most effective but they are also the most high-priced. A couple of minutes of television advertisement can cost tens of thousands, depending on the rank of the channel. Some say there is no such thing as anti advertisement and they may actually be right. Web ads can be text ads, pictures or flash banners. They are the easiest way to promote a website and are also the main source of income for a site. The text ads also help when trying to rank higher in search engines rank for keywords.
The main purpose of TV commercials is to make you remember and buy a product. Depending on its type they may try to convince that this product is the best on the market. So an effective advertisement should either be great and make you remember it because it is interesting or it should either be so stupid that you actually remember it because of this. A perfect example of this is the stupid and annoying Skittles commercial. So I suppose there really is not such thing as anti advertisement. And although TV commercials are expensive and are used by the bigger companies the radio ads are cheaper and can be used from smaller companies with smaller budget. These are only audio ads and do not have the same effect as video ads do but they still work. When advertising on the radio some annoying ad can only piss off people, so the radio commercials should be pleasant for the listeners.
As I said web advertising can be just a text ad which will mostly help you when competing with other websites for the same keywords, as if you rank 1 for a specific keyword you will get about 60% of the traffic. There are also flash banners which could be a couple seconds of video or even a very small game.
Billboards are another form of advertisement. Actually they are just big pictures. There are a large number of billboards. Usually they are placed on roads with a lot of traffic outside of the city or at important cross-sections. And they could advertise absolutely everything.
Bottom line commercials are the only way a product can be promoted. No matter what advertising method is used it can only have positive influence on a product. There are many types of commercials and each of them has its pros and cons. But the best advertisement is the one that gives its viewers a joy of watching something beautiful.
