Jolly Grant airport, Dehradun is 59kms away from Mussoorie. The airport receives flights from Delhi.
How to get there by Rail
The nearest railhead is at Dehradun which receives trains from Delhi and other big cities and towns. There is a Delhi - Dehradun Shatabdi train also which is most convenient and takes aboput 5 and half hours from Delhi and vice versa. From the staion here a regular bus service plies to Mussoorie as do taxis.
How to get there by Bus
There are regular buses and shared taxis from Dehradun, coming in to the Library Bus Stand. Buses also ply to Kulri, Masonic Lodge Bus Stand, Tehri Bus Stand and 5 kms away at Landour. Besides Dehradun, there are services from Delhi, Saharanpur, Haridwar, Shimla, Chamba and Tehri town.
Best time to Visit
The peak tourist season is in summer, from May to July. The town tends to get overcrowded at this time. Mid-season around Christmas and October-November are good times to visit.
Hotels in Mussoorie
Mussoorie has a wide range of accommodation, most of it situated along the Mall. Budget and standard class, and a couple of reasonable deluxe hotels too, are available. In the upper class of hotels the Avalon Resort and Country Inn would be good choices as would Kasmanda Palace be in the heritage category of hotels. Rates fluctuate substantially between peak tourist season and off-season.

Kempty Falls, a popular spot is 15 kms from Mussoorie on the new road to Yamunotri. A bath in the pool at the foot of the falls is a must-do for tourists thronging the spot. Steps lead down to the pool around which tea stalls, shops selling towels and bathing suits have come up. Other sites close
to Mussoorie include Jharipani Falls, about 8 kms from Mussoorie, Bhatta Falls 7 kms. on the Mussoorie Dehradun road and Mossey Falls 7 kms from Mussoorie past Barlowganj. The recently developed Mussoorie Lake, 6 kms down the Mussoorie-Dehradun road, has boating facilities. Nag Devta Temple 6 kms away and the Jwalaji Temple lies atop the Benog Hill. Dedicated to goddess Durga (form of Shakti), the temple is surrounded by dense forests and has excellent views of the Himalayas on one side and the Doon valley and Yamuna river on the other. The Yamuna bridge, 27 kms from town on the Chakrata Barkot road is a good angling spot. Permissions are needed for fishing, which can be obtained easily from the Divisional Forest Officer in Mussoorie (Ph: 0135 632335). Dhanaulti 25 kms from Mussoorie is on the road to Tehri. Surrounded by fragrant pine and deodar forests, this secluded resort is the ideal retreat from the hustle-bustle of Mussoorie. There is a tourist rest house and some private hotels that are reasonably good for an overnight halt. 8 kms from Dhanaulti is the shrine of Surkhanda Devi at a height of 8,000 feet. A motorable road connects up to Kaddu Khal, from where a two-kilometre climb has to be completed on foot. Grand sweeping mountain vistas can be seen from the top near the temple.
