A Trip To The Land Of Smiles: Singapore

A Trip To The Land Of Smiles: Singapore

Both me and my wife, Rosy are ardent armchair travellers but last month when we got

our yearly bonus cheques credited to our account we decided to pack our bags andhead off to Singapore. We chose Cathay Pacific for our journey and as our plane was about to land at the Chiangi Airport, I peeked out of the window and saw that Singapore is basically an archipelago of nearly 50 islands that are home to people from various nationalities.

Once we emerged out of the airport after obtaining the mandatory customs and security clearance, we checked into the hotel we had booked from the same website which we had booked our air tickets. After a few hours of rest we decided to hire a car and begin our tour of the city. As we drove through the city we could see that Singapore was nothing short of an international city with imposing skyscrapers standing next to chrome and glass buildings that housed the offices of all major transnational corporations.

The first stop on our tour was Merlion, Singapore most famous landmark that is part lion and part fish. Standing next to this impressive structure, one can get impressive views of the Marina Bay. We walked inside the Merlion and ascended the elevator that took us to the viewing deck on the 9th floor. From here we could get panoramic views of the entire city of Singapore which remain etched into our minds even today. We continued our sightseeing tour and visited places like Padang, City Hall, Civic District, Cricket Club, Padang, Parliament House and Supreme Court.

The next day we made a tour to the incredibly beautiful Sentosa Island. It was definitely the high-point of our trip as it is home to beautiful beaches, gardens and theme parks like Volcano Land, Under Water World & Butterfly Park. If you are also one of those who are planning their next Holiday To Singapore then make sure you include this island in your itinerary. It will definitely make your holiday an unforgettable experience.A Trip To The Land Of Smiles: Singapore

Since my wife, Rosy wanted to shop a bit we reserved the last day of our tour for some shopping and went to China Town & Little India. These city-quarters are definitely worth a visit if you want to buy items of necessary use at affordable prices. The best part about shopping in Little India was the fragrant smell of joss & incense sticks which filled the air that made our shopping experience a memorable one.

Three days in Singapore felt like three hours and we definitely look forward to visiting this enticing city state again. We just hope our next years bonus cheques help us to do just that!
