. These long commutes are something you want to forget about when you take a vacation. Even though it makes perfect sense to get away from driving during your trip, there are a number of reasons to consider using a rental car for your next vacation.While on vacation, you will be at the mercy of public transportation wherever you travel. If you are in a country that has public buses or trains, then you will mostly use that mode for moving around the city. The problem with the bus or train is that you cannot get to places off the beaten track. What you see on the bus or train route are the tourist traps. You won't be getting any real local flavor, just what has been packaged up for your consumption as a vacationer to the country. You'll never experience things like a native to that country would.
In the long run, a rental car will be cheaper than taking a cab. When you take a tour of the city, you do not want to be looking at the meter every ten minutes wondering how much the trip around the block is costing you. You want to enjoy your time. A flat rate for the length of your stay will be less expensive than taking multiple cab trips.
Whether you take a taxi, use the bus or take the train, you are only able to go from point A, which is probably your hotel, to point B whatever your destination was when you left the hotel. If you happen to change your mind, or wish to make a stop, you do not have the flexibility to do that. You could be looking out the bus window and see something interesting; there is no way to stop the bus and get off. If you have the same experience in a cab, the extra expense will be on your mind. There is no guarantee that you will catch another cab if you have that one leave either.
The gear that you need to carry around with you when traveling needs to be considered too. There are snacks for the children to lug around. There are cameras, travel brochures and backpacks to be carried. If the travel destination includes beach excursions, then there is a trunk full of items like towels, umbrellas and beach blankets.
Getting a rental car will save you money and will help cut down on some of the stress that goes along with using various forms of public transportation. It is the best way to enjoy a relaxing getaway.
