Westmonte Park offers a therapeutic pool for the disabled and elderly, and many attend from neighboring communities. This is free to Altamonte residents. There is also a large community pool located at Westmonte along with picnic areas and a large playground for children. Sports for both children and adults are offered at all parks including baseball, basketball, tennis and soccer to name a few.The Altamonte Mall is a 4-anchor indoor shopping mall located just about central in Altamonte Springs. The 4 stores, Sears, J. C. Penney, Macy's and Dillard's, draw thousands each year. Right next door to the mall is Uptown Altamonte, the pride and joy of Altamonte Springs. Numerous businesses abound including Five-Guys Burgers, banks, a credit union, numerous restaurants and a bridal salon to name a few. Shopping is a major draw for Altamonte Springs. Michael's Crafts, Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, Target and Kohl's are also located in Altamonte. There is also an 18-screen AMC theatre near the mall.Within driving distance of downtown Altamonte Springs is the new Amway arena, home of the Orlando Magic, the 2009 NBA Eastern champions. A bit further south is Walt Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios. Head northeast, and you will find the world's most famous beach, Daytona Beach, along with New Smyrna Beach and Ponce Inlet.
