Whilst London is one of the most well known cities in the whole of the world
, many people in the United Kingdom do not spend any great lengths of time there. The city itself has so much to offer that it may, for some, be off-putting as it can cause problems trying to decide what to do. Furthermore, many people who visit do so on business and therefore think that they do not have the time to see the whole city properly and therefore will wait until they have more available time.However, it is more than possible to see a fantastic amount of London in one day and one night, as long as the correct planning and preparation has been carried out.
To start with, many people who visit waste their evenings and more often than not are in the hotel bedrooms by nine-thirty PM. Whilst this may be suitable if you have a long time to spend in and around the are, for those who are staying just the one night, the evening can be a perfect time to see one of the most popular attractions of the capital city of England.
London theatre shows, particularly those in the West End area of the city, are regarded around the world as some of the most professional theatre shows to be produced. Offering all of the shows in the world of theatre, such as the wonderful Lion King musical from Disney and the ever popular The Phantom of the Opera, London theatre shows regularly feature some extremely popular actors and actresses and can provide a fantastic way to end any day in London.
During the day, it is important to get up early to see as much as is possible and this is where the planning and preparation really needs to be done.
For instance, if you want to visit the main tourist attractions, such as the London Eye, then it is recommended that this is done as soon as the attraction opens as it can become extremely busy. Similarly, if visiting the city on a weekend or bank holiday, any visits to museums should be started when the museum opens to ensure that school or family crowds are beaten.
Lunch can be taken on the go, from one of the many delis or food counters that are available throughout the city and the next point on your itinerary can be traveled to whilst having your bite to eat.
Whilst some walking is recommended, as this can be the best way to see many of the sights of the city, using the famous Underground (or Tube) is advised to reduce the amount of time taken to travel between each attraction that is wanting to be visited. In addition, to reduce the time further, the purchase of an Oyster card should be considered as this can be topped up with money at all underground tube stations and is simply swiped on the scanner when entering and leaving a station, removing the need to buy individual tickets for each and every journey.
London is a fascinating city to visit and any opportunity you have to go should be taken. Regardless of how short your stay may be, there is a part of the city to see that will fit in with the time that you have available.
