A Big Country Full Of Dreams And Options
Our son was recently laying on the trampoline with his girlfriend the week of high school graduation
. They were dreaming together; dreaming and planning their futures. They decided if they were still dating in four years, that is when they would get married. As they laid there discussing their future the conversation turned to where they would spend their honeymoon. They decided they would rent an RV in Maine and travel the country, see the different states, sights and people, choosing among them where they would live and go to school.Since this entire exercise was pleasant day dreaming and not steeped in any sort of reality, it was fun to listen to. They wanted to see this big country of theirs, experience both coastlines from Atlantic to Pacific and down to the Keys of Florida. What a trip this would be. And since it was purely dream land they didn't have to worry about details like cost and time off work or any of the logistics an adult brain would immediately turn to.
Our son's girlfriend said that she had never visited the heartland before, the flats of Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas. She wanted to check out Des Moines homes for sale and Des Moines real estate. When my son questions why Des Moines of all places, she said she had read a book when she was little that transpired there and had always wanted to live there if even for a little while. Well, why not? Des Moines homes are probably the same as anywhere else so they ear marked that as a stop on their trip. He had other more exotic places in mind along with a slew of amusement parks, mountains, forest, National Parks and Monuments.
If they started in Maine, drove the New England States on down through the South to the Florida Keys, and zig zagged back up through Mississippi, where he wanted to take a steam boat ride, they could travel through Iowa. A long trip, but certainly an educational one. One they would travel through the bread basket of America with small towns and large cities, they could cut through Colorado, Utah, Nevada and end up in California. What a time they would have, and if their relationship could endure four or five weeks together in a motor home, they would have laid a great foundation for married life. This land is amazing, beautiful and diversified; there certainly are options and choices in this great nation of ours for everyone.
