Nature walkers can find nearly 500 km of footpaths away from the road and for those who prefer to bike, the Island has an estimated 322 km of cycleways. This includes the 'Round the Island' route for the seriously dedicated - a continuous 100km circumnavigation of the entire landmass.

As the most southerly part of the UK, the Isle of Wight benefits from a sub-climate that would astound most visitors from the British Isles. It's no exaggeration to say that the island gets a longer, hotter and more enjoyable summer than any other place in the UK. Thanks to this climate the island also stays green and pleasant for considerably longer than most other areas in the UK - and sub-zero temperatures are almost unheard of.
Two major UK music festivals
As well as a disproportionate amount of sunshine for its permanent population, the Isle attracts an astounding amount of musical talent each year. Two of the UK's best festivals for music lovers are held every year on the Isle of Wight. The infamous Isle of Wight Festival is one of the biggest events for rock and alternative music in the UK, whilst left-field indie music lovers flock to finish off festival season each year with a trip to Bestival.
Traditional ales, ciders and local produce
As well as the products of three major breweries on the Isle, there are a variety of small independent producers. Tasty ciders and traditional ales can be found alongside locally award winning produced cheese, bread and chocolate. Served in many of the local shops and more importantly, in many of the local pubs and restaurants a lover of food and drink will find plenty to satisfy their taste buds on the Isle of Wight.
