4 Great Las Vegas Strip Hotels

Once you have planned the flights and all the main attractions to see during your

next trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, there is only one thing left on your to-do list besides packing- booking a hotel. Las Vegas is known for its impeccably designed, luxurious and monumental hotels and resorts.

From the strip, they look magical and exotic. You, too, can make your stay one to remember in one of Vegas' famous hotels.

First, there is the pink Flamingo Las Vegas, a hotel casino owned by Harrah's Entertainment. The property offers a casino that rests over a whopping 77,000 square feet and 3,626 hotel rooms.

The included 15 acres of the Flamingo has an architectural theme that is reminiscent of the Art Deco and Streamline Moderne style of South Beach and all of Miami. There is a central outdoor portion housing an exhibit of flamingos as part of a wildlife habitat.4 Great Las Vegas Strip Hotels

The Flamingo was the third resort to open on the strip and is the oldest still in operation today. It also conveniently has a Las Vegas Monorail station at the rear of the property.

Next, Vegas offers you the chance to stay in the Sahara Hotel and Casino, located on the strip in Winchester, Nevada. This extensive hotel provides 1,720 guestrooms and suits and a casino that rests on 85,000 square feet and 55 acres, part of which is unoccupied land.

This hotel is the northernmost stop on the itinerary of the Las Vegas Monorail. The Sahara ranks as the last vintage "Rat Pack" casino-hotel still running and anchors the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip.

With a heated, Moroccan flavor in decorations and customs, the Sahara Hotel and Casino greets you with a porte-cochere entrance topped with an onion-dome minaret to wrap you into the experience immediately. Do not miss out on this historically established hotel on the strip in Vegas.

Also, Vegas is home to the Riviera, a hotel and casino also referred to as "the Riv." This hotel has over 2,100 rooms, many of which are located in its 23 story tower; the casino has 110,000 square feet of gaming space.

This establishment is owned and operated by the Riv Acquisition Holdings, a private investment group owned by real estate developers Neil Bluhm, Barry Sternlicht, Paul Kanavos and Scott Butera (president of the acquisition group). They are proud of their development; however, the other shareholders recently rejected the Riv Acquisition offer of $17 a share.

The Riviera opened in 1955 as the first high-rise development and the ninth resort on the Las Vegas Strip. It is one of the oldest and most famous casino resorts in Las Vegas.

The resort continues to be passed around between investors. However, this historic venue was the subject of a famous issue of Life Magazine June of 1955 with a Moulin Rouge showgirl on the cover, and will remain talked about for some time.

Next, we will discuss the Tropicana Resort and Casino in some detail. Located in the township of Paradise, Nevada, the Tropicana is operated by Alex Yemenidjian's Armenco Holdings.

It has 1,658 rooms and is attached to a 61,000 square foot casino. Additionally, Tropicana Las Vegas also has 110,000 square feet of convention and exhibit space for events of all sorts.

Right on the Las Vegas Boulevard intersection, Tropicana has the most hotel rooms of any intersection in the world and is extremely busy. If you would like to take part in the center of lodging adventure, book your stay today. 4 Great Las Vegas Strip Hotels

Tropicana is interestingly linked by overhead pedestrian bridges to other nearby casinos as pedestrians are not allowed to cross at ground leve. The MGM Grand Las Vegas is located to the north across Tropicana Avenue and the Excalibur is found just across the street to the west.

Currently, Tropicana is working on a $2 billion renovation that is expected to be complete soon by the end of 2010, making it the largest resort casino in the world. Also, unlike many other hotel renovations, there will be no complete demolition of the building, holding on to the tradition for as long as possible.

This famous resort has been featured or mentioned in the following films/shows: the Elvis Presley film Viva Las Vegas, the James Bond film Diamonds are Forever, The Godfather Part II, Angel, Malcolm in the Middle, Designing Women and Let's Make a Deal. If you have seen it there or hearing about it now, make the Tropicana part of your stay in Las Vegas for a truly exciting experience with entertainment, food and a great casino.
