While this is certainly a good idea, it really is not for everyone. You can expect to spend at least 30 dollars on a per lesson basis, which adds up pretty quickly. In this economy most people do not have an extra hundred to two hundred dollars a month lying around to pay for private lessons. But most people never think to look for online solutions to help them learn guitar. The truth is there are hundreds of resources that can help you to learn guitar online. You just have to search them out. I'll show you a few later in the article.

This is recipe for creating a terrible guitar player. Most have never even learned to properly tune the guitar. Then they try to move on to learning chords and riffs that are much too advanced for them without ever really mastering the basic cowboy chords. A better method would be to learn the five most common open chords and about 10 - 20 songs using just those chords, and then move on to some simple riffs.
The number one cause for all these mistakes tends to be because the student did not take the time to properly research the resources they were using to learn if they were any good. Every decent online guitar course follows basically the same format. First the fundamental techniques are covered. These are things like how to hold the guitar correctly, getting it in tune and learning to read chord diagrams. From there the student progress to basic chords and common songs that use them and finally on to some basic riffs. This ensures that the cost of lessons is much lower than if the student had to keep repeating the same basic material over and over again because they did not learn the fundamentals.
