The match started a little late as we waited for Peter to deliver the team sheets
, we missed our tem chat and overall it was a more sombre start to the day.It was not the best of starts with only a win from Steve Appleby from the first five games, a bit more noise and support from the players started a little comeback with wins from Paul Anderson, returning captain Liam Harty, John Hardaker and Sean Gourley keeping us close at 5-6 after the first 11..
To the second 11 and with wins only coming from Terry Davidson, Dan Morgan, John Hardaker and myself meant we slipped to a 4-7 loss in this section and 9-13 down overall but the atmosphere started to change and noise levels went up as we romped to a 9-2 win in the penultimate 11... Notably another great win from John Hardaker to take his tally to 3 from 3, a great performance so far. That left us in front for the first time in the match at 18-15, needing only 5 more to edge the win.
The first 6 games were shared three a piece with wins from Terry Davidson, Steve Appleby and myself, 21-18 it was.Enter Liam Harty who played a lovely clearance and take us to 22-18 and a 3 from 4 for the joint captain. Next on was Mr Hardaker, the only player left that could get a four from four, started a bit slow then John got his chance and potted some great shots leaving a thin cut on the black to the middle bag from the bottom cushion, missing this pot would have definately lost him the frame. He kept his cool and ran it in slowly, an excellent shot from john who went on to receive a well desrved man of the match. With the win secure at 23-18 the last 3 games went to gloucester although Sean's Closing date for individual membership is Monday 28th December 2009
GB9 Leagues, Great Britain's Official 9 Ball League is delighted to confirm that the mouth-watering 25,000 prize money in it's inaugural season is now guaranteed.
Teams of three players compete against each other in singles and scotch doubles action over three periods of twelve weeks, culminating in a Regional and National series of finals. Each player's final ranking within the weekly updated National League table will determine who goes forward into the National Finals.

The innovative system will see the table split into ten equal divisions and the top point scorers from their respective division will be fighting it out for a percentage of the guaranteed 25,000 prize fund. This means players ranked highest in the top division come October 2010 will be cueing for a share of a cool 9,000, whereas players placing highest in Division 10 will be fighting for a share of 500. The pay-out structure is aimed to encourage players of all abilities and the previously unheard of idea that is rewarding grass-roots enthusiasts.
GB9 Leagues Chief Executive, Tony Weafer, commented, "Having the prize fund guaranteed is an amazing result. Our vision is to promote the sport of American Pool in Britain to heights that many believed it couldn't reach. By guaranteeing the 25,000, we want to send a message out that GB9 Leagues is the future...and a realistic one for every player. The new 9 ball league has proved very popular with members of Rileys Pool, Snooker and Darts clubs with many signing up to the new format.
The guaranteed 25,000 prize money and a structure that encourages amateur players has alerted many Rileys members to the new plans and players throughout the UK are signing up for the launch.
