Environmental Allergies: is a group of allergens which can include anything in your environment itself. Common examples will be the air (pollen, dust, grass and trees etc.), perfumes and fragrances, soaps, shampoos, the paint on the walls, the smells from your cleaning supplies etc.. This list can continue on and on. Each of these are common irritants to many people which cause a reaction in certain situations.

The trick to reducing these allergies is just by allergy-proofing your daily environment. Try some of these to help bring you some consistent relief.

- Use an air conditioner during the Spring, Summer and Fall months. Even if it is cool outside the air conditioner removes the humidity and reduces moisture which generates a more stable environment. This allows easier breathing. The asthmatic, any person sensitive to pollen or dust allergies and even pet allergies can be helped by reducing the airborne particulants in the indoor air.

- Crack your house windows just a little, especially in the winter months, when everything is dry, hot and continually heated inside the house. This will help relieve the dryness in your nasal passageways which disrupts your ability to breathe more naturally.

remove any carpets and large area rugs from your home and office. Use bare floors and accent rugs to reduce the dust.

Plants, the potting soil and the moisture in the planter all lead to difficulty breathing for many with allergies. Switch to silk florals and clean them often.

Chemical Allergies: is so new that many doctors can't even agree if they are or are not considered allergens. But the chemicals found in your bath soap, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, cosmetics, the herbicides and pesticides, gas fumes(from car exhaust) leather upholstery plus many other toxic fumes you are exposed to daily does affect many people adversely.

Elimination or complete avoidance is your best bet but sometimes this is just impossible. Switching to cosmetics, toiletries, soaps and lotions, shampoos etc. made with organic ingredients is often able to eliminate a lot of these nuisance symptoms.

Making your own safer versions right from your own home is an easier way to keep yourself safe.

Start with a couple of very simple homemade shampoos that are actually better for you than all those bottles of chemicals you will find at a store. You can eliminate all those chemicals and fragrances which are actually toxic to your own health.

50/50 Water and Baking Soda: keep an old squirt bottle near your shower, fill it 50% of the way with plain baking soda and then fill it near to the top while you are showering. Cap it, shake well and squirt this combination all over your hair. Work it into your scalp with your fingertips and then rinse until clean. Once every 3-4 days add a rinse of white vinegar and water as a conditioner.

Another easy shampoo is a quick visit to the drug store will yield a bar of castile soap or lye soap. Wet your hair, work the soap into your hair and scalp, add a rinse of 1 part white vinegar to 10 parts of water and then rinse everything off completely with plain water. This version will leave your hair and scalp super clean, soft and shiny.

So along with using some of these quick and easy alternatives, many are also very low cost and yet you still get the advantage of no more pharmaceutical drugs being thrown into your system on a daily basis.
