Toyota scoop two awards at the Insurance Vehicle Security Awards
Toyota has taken the title in two categories at the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards, held at the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre at Thatcham.
The Toyota Land Cruiser V8 claimed the prize in the large 4x4 class for the third year in a row, with the Toyota Prius winning the Green Car category.
The Prius was awarded top position in the Green Car group for having the lowest emissions among the UK's top-rated cars for security. This honour has highlighted the importance that today's motorists place on a vehicles crime prevention standards, coupled with their CO2 performance, both for security reasons and reducing running costs.
The advanced Hybrid Synergy Drive system of the Prius means it can be driven using its electric motor, petrol engine or a combination of both, allowing the vehicle to achieve its optimum performance, whilst keeping CO2 emissions to just 89g/km.
The Prius as a full hybrid can run at lower speeds over varying distances using its electric power source alone. This means fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions are kept to zero.
The iconic Toyota Land Cruiser V8 has the ability to seat seven passengers and boasts a range of capabilities, including its stylish management, suspension and drivetrain system, plus secure handling ensuring a safe and comfortable ride both on the open road and on rougher terrain.

The British Insurance Vehicle Security awards are aimed at raising consumer awareness of the best practice in vehicle security. The vehicles are assessed according to the New Vehicle Security Rating Scheme (NVSR), with points awarded under the two separate categories, the theft of' and theft from' the vehicle. The overall winners of each group are those models who achieve the highest scores in each category.
