After reporting on the rising cost of car insurance yesterday and the two factors pushing up premiums we latched on to some information regarding Home Insurance which we thought you would be interested in. There has been a new report compiled by CIFAS (the UK's fraud detection agency) shows that total fraud cases have remained stable over the periods 2009 and 2010.

It had been thought that overall fraud claims was on the rise however CIFAS report that the number of Home Insurance fraud cases had fallen 41% year on year. The number of fraudulent claims drop from 2009 and has seen a steady further drop through the back end of 2010 which is excellent news for the market as a whole. Home Insurance Fraud


CIFAS comment that they still find the main cause of policy fraud comes when a claim is genuinely made but values of goods are inflated. Claimants still find it difficult not to add on a few pounds to the value of a claim to see if they can "get away" with the heightened values.
