A new study claimed that a low dose of aspirin, 75mg tablet taken daily has a great protecting effect against prostate cancer. Aspirin is a widely used and low-priced medicine. The researchers from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center believe this painkiller acts by blocking the effect of enzymes that cause inflammation, a main reason in the development of prostate cancer. The study conducted looked at the effects of aspirin on risk of prostate cancer.For the purpose, the study team examined 1,001 patients diagnosed with prostate cancer and compared them with 942 cancer-free healthy volunteers. All participants were requested to fill questionnaire form which included information on general well being, diet and physical exercise habits, life style and family history. Colorectal cancer is the third most common form of cancer in men and women and the third leading cause of cancer deaths in Americans.
