Buying Clothes For A Growing Baby
Share: Buying clothes for a growing baby is a bit challenging for many new parents
, especially when it is their first time being parents. When buying clothes remember that none of the sizes printed on the labels correspond to the baby's actual age.
This is particularly true if the baby was especially large or small at the time of their birth. A large baby is generally considered to be 9 pounds or more.
If you have a large baby you might have to skip the 0 to 3 months clothing. When you skip these sizes go directly to a 3 to 6 month wardrobe. Before bringing a baby home there are some basic pieces of clothing that you should have.
These include a half dozen undershirts and onesies, a few sleepers with covered feet, several pairs of socks or booties, a couple of sweaters, pants, tops, four to six receiving blankets, and absorbent bibs.
Share: Depending on the season and the weather you may need to adjust accordingly. After you have these basic piece of clothing your baby will be set for the first few weeks.
What you will need to buy after that time depends mainly on your baby's growth spurts and also your budget. If your baby is growing as most do, you should expect to buy larger sizes of clothing, including larger diapers, every few months.
If you are looking to save money, buy larger clothes when they are on sale before you need them. You will want to buy clothes for both playtime and for special occasions.
When it comes to fancy and frilly special-event outfits, especially for baby girls, make sure the material isn't scratchy and that the outfit doesn't get in the way of their regular activities.
Your new little one will grow an incredible amount in his or her first year and babies generally aren't picky about what they wear as long as it's comfortable. Be sure to choose clothes that will fit your baby properly and keep them warm and comfortable.
This means always have baby socks on hand to put on your babies feet to keep their little toes warm. It is a good idea to always have an extra pair in your baby bag, so that if they fall off you will have another pair to put on your baby's feet.
Make sure the baby clothes you buy say "machine washable" on the labels because once you have a baby you won't have the time or the energy to wash clothes by hand.
As a general rule, you should always wash new clothes before dressing your baby in them. Not only does it clean them up after they've been hanging and handled in the stores, but it also makes them softer on your baby's sensitive skin.
Once your children have outgrown their baby clothes, you can make a valuable contribution to society by donating your old baby clothes to various charities and organizations.
When it comes to your precious new addition you want to get clothes that will be good for them and for you. When you take these tips into consideration you will have a better experience with your new baby and their clothes.
