Parents of teenagers are often worried about a lot of things that their child might do that may get them in trouble
. But if they feel that they have raised their child right, then with enough trust in them, they can expect their offspring to do the right thing when confronted with a difficult decision. Here are some of the situations that parents shudder to experience:- Teenage pregnancy. Even with the prevalent videos and messages of safe sex and abstinence, there is always a chance that their daughter may get impregnated or their son may soon be a new father. Early on it is the responsibility of the parent to talk about sex to their children. This may be one of the hardest things for both a parent and a child to go through but it must be done. Advocate for abstinence and at the very least, ask them to know about having safe sex. Making sure that they are aware of the responsibilities of their own bodies, with positive reinforcement and good exemplary behavior coming from the parent, the offspring has a chance of acting accordingly should the situation come.
- Alcohol and Drug Experimentation. It is hopeful that your kids will not go through this stage but peer pressure can often be too overwhelming. Still, if you think you have raised your child right, then you wish that he or she will not be tempted to experiment with such vices, especially the latter one. Maybe you can even use this defense as a reminder for them not to drink and drive. But by being industrious and persevering in your studies and doing the best in whatever needs to be done, these are the values that will help your child throughout his life. These are worth espousing time and again. These values define the person and his or her character.
