What Is the Easiest Way to Explore PST Files on a PC Without Outlook?

I recently needed to check the contents of an old Outlook PST file, but Microsoft Outlook was not installed on the computer I was using. The PST file contained important emails and attachments, so I wanted to access the data without changing the original file or setting up a complete Outlook account.
I first looked for a simple way to open the PST file directly. One concern was that I did not want to install Outlook just for viewing a few emails. I also wanted to check whether the file contained the information I was looking for before doing anything else with it.
For users who only need to inspect PST data, a dedicated PST viewer seems like a practical option. I found SysTools PST Viewer Tool, which is designed to let users access Outlook PST files through its own software interface.
The tool allows users to add Outlook PST files in the software panel and browse the available folders and data. It can also browse Outlook BAK files in the software UI, which could be useful when working with Outlook-related backup data.
Another useful feature is the ability to preview emails with attachments. Instead of opening the PST through Outlook, users can select email items and check their content and attachments from the viewer. The software also provides a search option for PST file data items, which can make it easier to locate specific information in a large PST file.
For people who need a copy of PST information in a different format, the software also provides an option to export PST data to PDF for personal use. There are also versions available for professional and business use, depending on the user's requirements.
Features I Found Useful
• Add Outlook PST files directly to the software panel
• Browse Outlook BAK files in the software interface
• Preview emails along with their attachments
• Search different PST file data items
• Export PST data to PDF for personal use
• Options available for professional and business requirements
The main reason I am considering this approach is convenience. If the goal is only to inspect emails, attachments, and other PST data, installing Outlook may not always be necessary.
The listed rate I found for the software is $68 USD, and the contact email is support@systoolsgroup.com.
Has anyone here tried a dedicated PST viewer for accessing Outlook data without Outlook? I would especially like to know about your experience with searching large PST files, previewing attachments, and browsing older PST or BAK files. 2026-9-18 20:31
