BAE is a sophisticated interventional radiology method utilized to stop severe or recurrent coughing of blood known as hemoptysis. It is a minimally invasive procedure designed to prevent bleeding in patients suffering from pulmonary artery aneurysm without surgical intervention.
In this procedure, a catheter is introduced into the patient's body via a blood vessel and is navigated to the bronchial arteries with the use of live imaging. Once the source of the bleeding is detected, the specialist uses small embolic materials to occlude the abnormal blood vessels and stop the bleeding without affecting healthy lung tissue.
