TheAnaheim Ducks will have someone new in net. It's just not clear ifDan EllisorRay Emery will get the chance to end the team's four-game slide.
The search forJonas Hiller's replacement continues as the Ducks try to beat theMinnesota Wild at Honda Center for a fourth time in a row Friday night.
Hiller is out indefinitely with dizziness and fatigue, and team doctors suspect it might be vertigo. The All-Star goaltender has been sidelined since making 12 saves in a 4-0 win at Edmonton on Feb. 13.
He's 26-16-3 with a 2.50 goals-against average and five shutouts, and the Ducks (32-25-4) haven't coped well without him.
Curtis McElhinney compiled a 5.77 GAA and a .779 save percentage during Anaheim's current skid after he stopped 15 shots in a 3-2 loss to Los Angeles on Wednesday.
A day later, Anaheim traded McElhinney to Tampa Bay in exchange for Ellis, who lost his starting job toDwayne Roloson. Ellis, however, is 6-2-2 with a 2.51 GAA over his last 10 starts.
The Ducks also added Emery, who is trying to come back from hip surgery in April after struggling with Philadelphia last season.
"With the situation with our goaltending, we felt that we needed an improvement in areas," coach Randy Carlyle said. "I don't think you can never have enough goaltending."
