Types of Dental Insurance For the Poor

Many of you dread the word insurance and rightly so

. But did you know that you need to be insured. We are living in a fast moving world where anything can happen at any time. You want to be insured. When you are poor or from a low income family, you may very well give up hope on insurance. You will laugh thinking that when I can't afford the basic needs, what good is an insurance policy.

One of the most overlooked insurance policies is the dental health insurance. Whether you like or not, you often have tooth problems. If it is just one small tooth, it can cost you lot of money if left unattended. However, it is a worth while investment to get your teeth insured. When going in for a dental treatment either for a major or minor dental problem, they rely on their insurers to get them out with monetary funds.

Ok, so you are poor and can't afford to have an insurance plan and pay for the monthly premiums. Here is what you can do. Did you know that there are different types of dental insurance plans? For example, you have the Indemnity insurance plan and the Managed dental insurance plans. In the indemnity insurance plan, the insurance company pays you large sum for your expenses.

In some cases the patient can reimburse the entire payment, for the others, almost the whole amount is paid by the insurance company. The rest of the payment has to be paid by the insurer. The Managed dental insurance plan is very economical and perfect for you if you are from a low income family. This plan is subdivided into Dental Health Medical Organization (DHMO), Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and the Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO).

The DHMO provides you with a personal doctor and your medical requirements and payments are done through him. The PPO allows you to choose your doctor but you may have to pay more. The EPO is a combination of both DHMO and PPO. This would be the best choice as it is cheap and gives you lot of options.

As you see from the above, even though you are poor, you can avail these insurance policies to make sure your teeth are fine.
