Ticks On Dogs

The dog is every man"s best friend. You"ve probably heard that many times. But this doesn"t mean that it"s just a clich and not true. In fact, they gained this level of trust because you don"t need to professionally train them in order for them to sense any bit of danger and protect their masters. Dogs will never let anything bad happen to their fellow humans, and by having them as our pets, we should carry the same weight on our shoulders in regards to them. Especially since we consider ourselves more evolved species.

Having a pet dog is not easy. Even though as kids, we make big, wide, puss-in-boots eyes and ask in a trembling voice "Can we keep it?", to which our parents can never say no, it"s more of a responsibility than we think. We sign up for more than just the pleasure of petting our dogs, show them off to friends and neighbors, take them to school on "show and tell" days and give them food and water. We also need to take good care of their health. Even if we think our backyard is safe, our canine friends are exposed to a jungle of insects and parasites just ready to take advantage. Ticks on dogs, for example, is an issue of bad management on behalf of the owner.

This particular threat, especially since ticks carry diseases and can even paralyze the host if left untreated, can go on for years even unnoticed if the owner is not paying attention. There are hard and soft ticks, and although amounting to an amazing 825 species, ticks don"t usually attack humans. Hard ticks on dogs, such as the American dog tick, are in dire need of their host"s blood in order to develop further. Because of its four life stages, hatching from eggs to become six-legged larva, and then after attaching to your dog, persistently feeding until they"re full. Taking off, the now eight-legged tick is called a nymph. It waits for another host to complete the cycle, and once it gets to it and starts feeding again, it becomes a fully grown adult. They can live for three days in your yard, waiting to jump on your dog again.

Once ticks on dogs grab hold to the skin, the host needs help to remove the danger safely. After all, your dog is not a giraffe. The latter can just wait for birds to come down from the trees and pick the insects and parasytes out of their skin. But the dog relies on us to take a good care of it and recognize a threat, once we"ve seen it. Actually, you need to pay extra attention, because ticks are quite difficult to spot, especially if your dog has thicker and darker fur. They"re usually fond of small clearances in the fur, like the ears or the insides of its legs, the joints and sometimes the tail. You should really take good care of preventing any ticks attached to its fur if you want your dog to take part in any beauty contests, because in the place where a tick was attached, hair of a different color may grow and make the spot clearly visible.Ticks On Dogs

If they could speak, I"m sure canines would want us to bathe them and comb them as often as possible. Therefore, let us do that and save the trouble of finding ticks on dogs ever again. Especially since they are real nasty parasites, which can easily spread infectious diseases.
