Times are tough all over and that includes people with health issues of all kinds
. Many people have lost jobs and insurance benefits as well. There are others that have coverage and are able to get to a medical professional when needed. For people with none it can be very stressful dealing with even a small illness. All together there are some serious issue that need to be dealt with considering health care and access to it for a whole lot of people.When you have insurance it seems like you can handle anything that life throws at you. If you get run down and become ill, you visit the doctor. If your kids fall down and break an arm or leg then you just have to visit the emergency room for assistance, and you are able to give them your insurance ID card and not have to worry about the money aspect at all. Generally you can see any number of health professionals and you won't need to worry about having any cash with you.
This will go nicely for you until you realize that there are some bills coming that you were not expecting. You then begin to realize that there quite a few things that are not covered by your insurance. This is a nasty surprise for many people. Especially so when someone spends a good amount of time in the hospital and racks up all kinds of medical debt. Being faced with all this unexpected debt while trying to recover can be really tough. And all this can happen to people with decent insurance.
You may not realize this but there are many people every year that are going through bankruptcies in the United Stares that have a large amount of medical bills as a part of their major debt. You would think that this is just people that didn't have any insurance in the first place so it is not a surprise at all. But that is not the case. It is often the people that do have insurance and they are left with great insurmountable debt after the insurance company has paid their share.
Unfortunately, with the current cost of health care, even the best insurance plans don't cover all that much leaving people penniless and without the ability to pay them. While you may believe that you are one of the lucky ones who has insurance, the truth is even with good insurance you could be left with a mountain of unpaid medical bills and no way to get out from under them except bankruptcy.
