The Record-breaking productions in London and New York, THE LION KING can currently be seen in Paris, Tokyo, Hamburg, and Las Vegas and on tour in North America. The Lion King has translated into five different languages (Japanese, German, Korean, French, and Dutch).The Portland return of Disney's THE LION KING opens tonight, Friday, June 18 at 7:30pm at Keller Auditorium for a limited engagement of four weeks through Sunday, July 11. In Portland, THE LION KING plays Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30pm, Sunday evenings at 6:30pm, Saturday matinees at 2:00pm and Sunday matinees at 1:00pm, with additional performances on Thursday, June 17 at 1:00pm and Thursday, July 8 at 1:00pm. Now in its 13th year, THE LION KING going on to reign as one of the most famous shows on Broadway and around the world. It is the eighth longest-running musical in Broadway history and, according to figures just released by The Broadway League, placed second on the Top 10 lists for both the highest-grossing and best-attended shows of the 2009-10 seasons, a remarkable indicator of its extraordinary success. The Actors Fund has announced a benefit performance of THE LION KING in Salt Lake City, Utah. On August 25th, 2010 this special performance to benefit the Fund will take place at the Capitol Theatre. THE LION KING will run at the Capitol Theatre from August 11 to September 26, 2010. The musical, directed by Julie Taymor, features unique portrayals of animals by its cast and hit songs such as 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight' and 'Circle of Life.' THE LION KING won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1998, is coming to the Marina Bay Sands Theatre. Base Entertainment and Marina Bay Sands are bringing the Disney Theatrical Group production to Singapore in September 2010. The South-east Asian premiere in Singapore will be a copy of the other shows performing in other parts of the world, including London and New York.
