Peter John Kay is a famous English comedian, writer, producer, director and actor who worked in That Peter Kay Thing , Phoenix Nights , Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere , and many other independent productions. In 1997 he won the competition, "So You Think you are Funny" at Edinburgh and the North West Comedian award of the Year. He was also nominated for the prestigious Perrier award when he presented his own hour-long show to the Edinburgh Fringe in 1998.Peter actually has a qualification in stand up, which he acquired as part of his Btec in Media Performance Studies. His childhood ambition was to be a bin man.
In the year 2000, he participated in the show, Live at the top of the tower and his excellent performance gave him mainstream recognition. He also made appearances in chat shows like Parkinson and Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. Peter Kay has released two autobiographies called The Sound of Laughter and Saturday Night Peter. He also gave guest appearance in one episode of the popular police drama Heartbeat being a thief. He also sang at the end of the episode. He has appeared on numerous chat shows, including The Paul O'Grady Show and The Late Late Show.
