Seoul To Attract Foreign Visitors With Global Korean Food Contest

The Seoul Metropolitan Government is set to hold a global Korean food cooking contest

, titled Delicious SEOUL Story. It is being held through its YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/visitseoul) and is being held from October 1st to October 31st. The five winning teams from the Delicious SEOUL Story will win a four-day trip to Seoul.

The global interest in Korean culture is usually limited to hallyu (the Korean Wave). However, to help diversity the global interest in Korean culture, the contest is held and aims to attract more foreign visitors to Seoul by increasing the awareness of Korean cuisine globally. The Delicious SEOUL Story is co-hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Asiana Airlines.

The participants or the participating team in the Delicious SEOUL Story must create a short video in response to the Delicious SEOUL Story video on VisitSeouls YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/visitseoul. The video must present the participant or the participating team preparing a traditional Korean dish or a Korean-Western fusion dish from their recipe. Among the contenders, five winners will be selected to win a culinary trip to Seoul. On their Delicious SEOUL Story tour, another contest will be held for the winner to determine the finalist who will be named the best cook among the participants of the Delicious SEOUL Story contest. The Delicious SEOUL Story tour will be from November 23rd to November 26th.

The five winning teams or participants will be treated to a Korean culinary experience on the Delicious SEOUL Story tour. The five winning teams will get a chance to experience Korean cuisines through a Bulgogi cooking experience with Korean cuisine masters, a Kimchi making experience, and also a visit to a Korean traditional market. Throughout the Delicious SEOUL Story tour, they will get to enjoy Korean cuisines at a number of gourmet restaurants and visit a variety of popular tourist attractions in Seoul.

The final contest of the Delicious SEOUL Story will be held among the five winning teams or participants during the Delicious SEOUL Story tour. The contest will determine the best cook of the Delicious SEOUL Story. During the final contest, the contestants will prepare the Korean dish or Korean-Western fusion dish from their own recipe for the five official judges, who are all Korean food experts. The winner, the best cook of the Delicious SEOUL Story, will be awarded with an extra prize.

Through the Delicious SEOUL Story contest, the Seoul city government hopes to increase the in foreigners their interest in Korean cuisines. Thus, through the increase, hope to encourage foreigners to produce their own Korean cuisines at their home. They also hope to enhance the understanding of Korean culture, which will hopefully prompt foreigners to come visit Seoul.

The Delicious SEOUL Story is held as part of the 2010-2011 Visit Korea Year with Seoul campaign. The events and promotions are presented in five different languages (Korean, English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese).
