Ok, so I thought it would be time for me to write a review over my impressions and thoughts about Seagate Expansion. I have owned this external hard drive for a little more than four months now. The main reason that I bought it was that I read that it was compatible with both pc and mac's which was perfect for me when I own and work with both computer brands.
This really is a plug and play product and I was able to test to move files after about twenty minutes after I took it out of the box. I just connected the usb cable to my computer and Windows instantly recognized the new software. Regarding to upload/download times I would say that it is not better or worse than any of its competitors. I have been using many brands and products and can't really say that I noticed any difference.
Seagate Expasion is a small and slick external hard drive so you don't have to worry about having something big and ugly on your computer desk. It is actually lighter than the Iphone but a little but bigger.
It is easy to move files between your computer and Seagate and I have not noticed any problems this far. I also read a couple of other reviews where people say that they actually play games thought their Seagate without any lagging problems.
One thing I realized pretty fast was that I was not able to do backups without downloading Seagate manager, which is a free program that you can find on their website. This program also gives you a sync option. This was a pretty important feature that I needed when I have work and other important things that I don't want to disappear if something happens to my computer.
So this is in my opinion a quite good product for the price. It is quite and works fast, in a small package. You will not have to do any installations or other things, all you need to do is to plug the usb in the computer and you are ready to go. There is no need for other power supplies. You also have the option to download a free program that lets you do necessary backups and gives you a sync option.
So are there any negative thoughts I have. Nothing that really is a big problem but there are some things that I can get a little bit annoyed over. One thing is that for some reason it goes into standby after just 5 minutes by default and you cannot change this without the Seagate manager.
So if you are looking for a cheap, fast and reliable external hard drive the Seagate Expansion will not get you disappointed.
