My Unique Filelock Review from Personal Experience
My Unique Filelock Review from Personal Experience
I watch three children during the day, ages 4-9. All of the kids at some point want to play games on my computer. My husband stores all of his considerable music collection on the system and lets his two sisters do the same. I don't mind this usually, but since I got a job as an independent researcher last year I have files that in no way can be touched.
Yes, I have had a day's worth of work completely erased my by 4 year old nephew who saw the letter A on the keyboard and thought it would be cool to fill most of a spreadsheet with that letter. That alone really isn't worth buying any program.
What did convince me to give it shot was when I realized that just because you try to use different log on names, doesn't mean everyone in the house will abide or even know how to follow that rule. I don't really have that much time to enforce turns on the computer and sit by their side the entire time. I could ban it altogether, but the kids are not the only problem. My husband tried to delete his music and also wiped out my paid-for audiobook collection.
Since I can't afford computer classes for anyone who might need to use the internet, and in the extended family I am the only one with a computer and printer, it became apparent I needed something more.
There is a free trial I took advantage of; the program is certified clean and ware-free but Softpedia.
Really, it's nice. I just drag and drop my day's work into the little box and no one can touch it without the password. I became comfortable and bought after the trial expired.
My spreadsheets, articles, pictures, passwords and financial data are completely hidden by the program. It's like they don't exist and so are never touched.
If you live in a home with one computer and multiple users I would really recommend this program, or at least giving the free FileLock trial a shot.
