Pointers On Personal Growth

A Few Points on Personal Growth,

Once you have entered a programme of personal development, you will notice how you grow as a person. Even if there is no specific goal in mind, you need to change and adapt in order to stop life becoming stale. Coaching yourself to personal growth is an excellent way to acquire new skills you never know you had. Just being wiser and more aware is an excellent goal in itself.

As Children we Learn through a Process of Play and Trial & Error

As children, we are encouraged to learn about the world through text books, computers and other indirect mediums. Meanwhile other direct methods such as play, exploration - become regarded as less important. The danger with this approach is that it stifles how natural curiosity about the world. When we are small children, we learn through a process of play and trial and error. We actively explore our surroundings and learn to adapt and shift accordingly. This is how we develop skills such as language, social interaction and physical coordination. Pointers On Personal Growth

Learning is best understood as a Cycle of Processing Information

I am not suggesting here that we are better off playing in sand pits for the rest of our lives, but I am saying that we should not be so quick to disregard our most natural learning methods. The reason why we have such big brains is to fill them up with learning and ideas. Learning is best understood as a cycle of processing information from experience. In the same way that our memories recollect the most vivid event, we learn best from the most vivid learning experience.

Pain seems a Strange Gift for Nature to have given Us

Pain is one of the most researched but little understood concepts in psychology and biology. All sophisticated life forms are capable of experiencing pain, and it is actually important too. Pain may seem a strange gift for nature to have given us, yet it is the ultimate learning tool. Imagine putting your hand into a fire and not feel any pain. You would be unaware of the damage being caused, leaving no incentive for you to take your hand out of the fire. Pain is, therefore, natures warning signal - the experience and memory of pain prevents immediate damage and the chance for a mistake to reoccur.

Emotions can be the Driving Force

Of course pain does not have to be a physical sensation, for mental pain can leave just as big an imprint. We have all experienced wounded pride, hurt and anguish which cause great discomfort. But did you know that these emotions can be the driving force behind inspiration, motivation and development? If we are able to use the memory of a mistake correctly, we can become greater than we had previously imagined.

Back to the Drawing Board

It is the process of trial and error by which human beings learn. Think of the phrase back to the drawing board which neatly illustrates the idea of a mistake being a normal thing. Fear of making mistakes prevents many people from going after the things that they want. A lot of wasted energy gets expended by some people who dwell on the what if s rather than the potential benefits. This negative thinking can become all consuming with the negative thoughts picturing all kinds of negative outcomes rather than the positive ones. This frame of mind is counter productive. It will prevent you from trying anything new or taking risks. It also classes mistakes as problems rather than seeing them as a learning opportunity.

Learn to Judge from Your Triumphs Pointers On Personal Growth

You need to become comfortable with yourself so that you can become adept with adapting to change and countering the negative aspects of life. When you are able to forgive yourself for the mistakes you make in your life, you have begun the process of benefiting from change. Learn to judge not from your mistakes, but from your triumphs. After all, isnt a mistake just a side effect of learning? It is through this process that you become a vibrant and unique individual.

Learn from the Experiences of Hardship

Having the courage to learn and change may not necessarily make you a more materially successful, but it will help you negotiate hard times more smoothly and learn from the experiences of hardship. Knowing how your brain works helps you know when and how to intervene in managing your mind to make the process of adaptation happen more smoothly and perhaps more quickly. It also helps you monitor both the conscious and unconscious spheres of your mind and gives you feedback about whether you are adapting successfully.
